Who is Park Bo Gum?

I will be honest with you all. I was once a hater for any Korean music, drama and the like, However, when I stumbled upon Love in the moonlight and saw Park Bo Gum or Bogummy as the others call him, as the crown prince. I fell for the Korean wave.


Who is Park Bo Gum?


According to Wikipedia, Park Bogum was born on June 16, 1993, and that makes him 26 years old as of this writing. He was born in Seoul South Korea which is the capital city of the country  

He aspired to become a singer and he sent multiple audition videos of him singing and playing the piano to big entertainment industries or agencies in South Korea. Offers came in for him and he decided to join Blosson entertainment. 

He was then advised to try acting instead of singing, not that because he is not a good singer, but he has the potential to become a  huge actor. He then tried and eventually starred in different films and Korean Dramas.

Below are the films that Park Bo Gum was part of.

  • In 2011, he played as Min Dong -Hyun in the film "Blind".
  • In 2012, he acted as the young Cha Chul-soo in the film " Runaway Cop".
  • In 2014, he was part of three films. These films were  " A Hard day, The Admiral: Roaring Currents and Twinkle- Twinkle Pitter-Patter. He played as Officer Lee Jin-Ho, Bae Soo-bong, and Jun-woo respectively.
  • In 2015, he played as Park Seok-hyun in the film "Coin Locker Girl".
  • In 2020, he is gonna play as Seo Bok in the film "Seo Bok". What I know in this film is he is going to be with Gong yoo here.

Television series that Park bo Gum was a part of.

  • In 2012, he starred in three television series. They were Hero, Drama Special " Still Picture", and Bridal Mask. He played as Kang Dong-woo, The young Kim Hyun-soo, and Han Min-kyu respectively.
  • In 2013, he played as Go Young-joon in the series Wonderful Mama.
  • In 2014, he played as the young Kang Dong-seok and Lee Yeon-hoo in the series Wonderful days and Naeil's Cantabile respectively.
  • In the year 2015, he was a part of the producers and Hello Monster as Jung Sun-ho/ Lee Min.
  • In the year 2015 going to 2016, he was part of the hit tv series "Reply 1988"  as Choi Taek.
  • In 2016, Love of the Moonlight, which was my favorite and the reason why I am here writing about him.
  • In the year 2018 going to 2019, he played as Kim Jin-hyuk in the series Encounter.
  • In 2020, Park Bo gum had a cameo in the drama Itaewon class. This year also, he will be a part of Record of Youth as Sa Hye-joon.

Park Bo Gum is considered a Hallyu Star in Korea. He is very famous with a lot of endorsements from different brands. He has also won multiple awards and recognition for his craft.

Park Bo Gum Applied to Join the Navy - 2020

June 6, 2020: I saw the news circulating around my social media last week that our beloved Park Bo Gum sent his application to join the Navy and will enlist on August 31st of this year if ever he gets accepted. This service for his country and an obligation for all Korean men to render 2 years of military service. I was curious why Korean Men need to render military service for two years and got the information below from the Q & A site,  Quora. According to this Q & A site, The mandatory military service was brought about by the Korean War. The division between North and South. Right after the war ended, Military service was for about a year, then as the years go, the military service was lessened to two years. Also, according to the post, the military service years probably would be reduced to 18 months.
